Deal... or No Deal?

I've read this on the GSN boards and on Buzzer, but no one can seem to confirm whether or not this is true! According to Wikipedia, the top prize when DoND comes back will double to $2,000,000, with $1,000,000 being the second highest dollar amount. This is strictly a rumor and I have no idea whether it is true or not.
This prompts a question: Is this really necessary? Deal or No Deal isn't really about the money, and very few shows benefit from the Mo' Money complex.

It shoudn't be necessary. I enjoyed the show with only $1,000,000 at stake. Doubling the grand prize is just stupid on NBC's part.

Or maybe it's the Australian version you're talking about. They originally had a top prize of $2,000,000, and that was a primetime show, but it flopped, but when they revived it with the daytime version, it was a much huger success. Maybe it's Australia that's trying for a primetime comeback with $2,000,000. Who knows?

Wow -- it's going to top out at $3,000,000! Can you believe that?

I'd love to apply, but I don't know how I'd get a camcorder in order to do so.
