If you haven't heard already, the show's airing on GSN.
They're probably starting with the early era of episodes. Check it out if you get a chance to do so.

I have cleared my TV schedule so I can watch it daily. Let's hope the suits at GSN don't pull this jewel of a show.

Out of curiosity, is GSN airing the episodes (more or less) in order, starting season 1?

Not exactly sure. I haven't gotten a chance to see it yet.
I'm guilty and hate admitting it.

I hate to admit it but I missed the show on NBC first run (and they don't show the syndicated show in my state even though they're holding auditions for contestants in Providence next week). I started watching DOND on GSN and haven't missed a show yet (they show it enough times).
I'm not one to watch Network TV (usually movies on TCM or old gameshows on GSN) which is why I missed it originally ...though I may have caught a few minutes of the show now and then while thumbing through channels.
Better late than never!

They just began showing the first episode of season two on GSN today. I noticed one change already; they had the models walk down the steps onto the set twice -- and they were wearing different dresses. And they have the top prize go up from 1 million to 6 million by the end of the first week of season 2.

The first week on Season 2 was just a special one-time event week on DOND. Kinda like the Million Dollar Mission thing at the beginning of Season 4. I thought it was a stupid gimmick idea anyway, especially at the *beginning* of a season. I mean, if someone won $6 million or even $2 million that kinda kills off motivation to keep watching the show, since the top prize in the regular game is only one million...

Really I'd hate to have been one of the contestants who could only have won 1 or 2 million when someone picked a few days later had the opportunity to win 6 million. But to me what really made the show (besides being a fan of some of the models) was the contestants themselves and Howie's reaction to them. The contestants that you really wanted to win versus those you wanted to lose because they got too greedy. I think they came up with the gimmicks to try to keep the show a little fresh since the whole game itself was so simple and could get boring really fast. You just KNEW nobody was going to take the first deal the banker came up with. You also knew that in a one hour show they had to stretch some things out to make the show last the full hour. I think I'd still prefer the hour version to the half hour syndicated one just because I like to see all the models opening the cases rather than the setup they have now.

The gimmicks in general I didn't mind --- it did make the show more interesting. The one gimmick I absolutely hated though, was the Million Dollar Mission. The problem with that gimmick was it made the show a joke. I mean, it really cheapened the concept of winning the million when you had like 13 or whatever of the million dollar cases on the board...

That whole Million Dollar Mission thing was godawful, especially when it was won twice.
Tomorrow's win was less climatic than the first one, only because she was left with multiple millions at the end of her game (she had three of them, if I'm not mistaken). That basically defeated the purpose -- I would have liked to see someone win when the MDM was not going on. You know, so that it showed that it can be done. But everyone wished to be greedy pigs, so...

You know, so that it showed that it can be done. But everyone wished to be greedy pigs, so... Yeah, DOND jumped the shark with MDM. The show was basically doomed once someone won it, IMHO... In the regular game, the second case at the end needs to be at least $100K for anyone to realistically go for the million. Even in the syndicated version, $100K wasn't high enough for someone to go for the $500K top prize at the end...

Yeah, DOND jumped the shark with MDM. The show was basically doomed once someone won it, IMHO... Pretty much. Personally, I would've loved to see someone win it on a standard board.
