I actually read this from Alex, the person who runs Buzzer. The Banker is a real person and he's up there calculating odds and statistics. Some people just think that the numbers that are left are what influences his offer and that's not true. There are actually several factors, including the momentum of the game (That is, is the person picking a lot of high or low numbers) and even the attitude of the person who's playing at any given time.

Well, you can see a shadow up in the booth so I could tell there was someone up there. But that's pretty cool about where some of those numbers for the deals come form.

Everyone says they do. I usually am pretty close in figuring out what the guy offers. My mom always looks at me and goes "How do you do that?"

I know that. I said it at the beginning of the thread:
It's pretty easy to see, especially early in the game that it's not the average, although the numbers left on the board do influence the decision somewhat. Even late in the game, he almost never gives out straight average, although I have seen it a few times.
I also knew it was a formula because there is a computer that the banker has up there that does the plurality of the calculations, and that's been posted too on sites.
I love the quote from the Banker's Blog, hence I'll post that too.

Didn't I just say that?
All I'm saying is: If you know the formula, great. That's fine. The truth is this: I think it would ruin the game for everyone if the exact formula was spelled out completely because all they'd have to do is plug in the numbers and boom, they know beforehand down to the dollar what the banker's going to offer. That would take away from what's left of the magic of the game. My estimates when I look at boards or watch DoND are just that, my estimates and they're usually pretty darn close to what the banker actually offers, sometimes I'm dead on.
You might think that I'm doing this as a ploy to get you to spill the beans or reverse psychology. It's not. But don't go bragging like that. If you do that, that just gets very annoying. Think back to your days as a kid -- how many people got brutally annoyed when a kid says "I've got a secret that I won't tell?", and then what happens? They find out and they're like "Oh gee. That spoils it.", and I truthfully wouldn't enjoy DoND as much if I knew the precise formula. Some things are better left as a secret. Think about it, seriously: Suppose you do know the formula. Wouldn't it be more exciting not knowing and thinking "What is the banker going to offer?"
