Medicine Hat, AB - Firefighter (Case #5)
NOTES:
-- Global passed on the Super Bowl postgame. DOND started at approx. 10:01 pm ET, just seconds after CBS went to break after the final gun.
-- The Money Table differs from the U.S. version as follows: The $400,000 amount is replaced by $2 - which is called a "Toonie", and the $1 is listed as a "Loonie". (Those are Canadian dollar coins)
-- The Banker watches from a box to the contestant's left where he paces while the offers are made. He phones Howie on "The Rogers Line", sponsored by a big communications company in Canada.
-- "Canada's Case Game" was played for a Pontiac G6. Phone lines were so busy Global kept the lines open to Midnight ET. Winner will be announced Monday on "ET Canada".
-- The "Deal Chime" is heard over the "Case opening" stinger except when an amount in the "Power Block" is revealed.
-- The "No Deal" stinger is also used as the in- and outcue during breaks in the show.
-- The guardians of Cases 8, 15, 20, 22 and 23 were introduced at the pre-taping press conference as "The Fabulous Five" from the Cross-Canada model auditions.
-- [20] goes by the nickname "J.J."
-- Best model exchange of the night: Kylie, who said "I am from Sheparton, Nova Scotia" as if she were in a pageant. Howie later called her "our buttercup". (FTR: Kylie is an actress)
-- By percentage, the offers in Game 1 are about 10% higher than those in the first U.S. game.
-- And finally, if you need a reason to move to Canada, ALL WINNINGS ARE TAX-FREE!!!
