For those Stateside who don't know, the Geminis are Canada's equivalent to the Emmys, honouring the best in Canadian television. Every year for the last few years, the Geminis have handed out a "Viewers Choice Award" in various categories. This year, it was for the "Best Canadian in a TV series not eligible for a Gemini Award". (The award was decided by internet voting. Had I thought of it, I'd have posted a link to vote on it way back when (you didn't have to be Canadian to vote).) Among the other nominees were Kiefer Sutherland ( 24), William Shatner ( Boston Legal), and Sandra Oh ( Grey's Anatomy). I wish I'd taped the ceremony, so I could put Howie's acceptance speech online. 'Twas quite hilarious. He was quite surprised and thrilled. Coincidentally, the girl who handed him the award (not the presenter) was none other than "our little buttercup" Kylee Evans, who held Case #19 on Deal or No Deal Canada. Hehe, cool.
BTW though...he couldn't be up for a Gemini for DoND Canada? (Or would that be only considered a mini-series?)

DOND Canada would've been considered a Reality Program or Series. It simply wasn't nominated for whatever reason. (Eligibility issues, maybe? I'm not sure.)
Meanwhile, the Geminis don't have a host category for reality programming. If there were, Howie would've been eligible for that.

Ah, gotcha. Now I see why Howie wouldn't have been in consideration for Gemini.
