I just got finished watching last night's episode, and of course that model had to bring out whatever that crap was while I was eating.... Needless to say, I've lost my appetite for awhile I thought that the woman was smart in taking the $95,000 deal, but then it was revealed that she had the $400,000. That's always tough to see, when the contestant has a big amount, but ends up making a bad deal. Monday night looks to be quite interesting, to say the least. According to the preview at the end of last night's episode, he gets an offer of $261,000 I believe. I'm looking forward to the next episode already

Looks like on NBC's site one player on Monday is a Yankees fan. Wonder if he's the one that gets the big offer or if it's the contestant before him. You know...being born and raised in Massachusetts, I'm sorta anti-Yankees, ya know? It's almost as if I'm posed with the following question - 'What is the lesser of two evils - rooting for the Yankees' fan or for the Banker?' Hee hee. (I kid.)

Well, I'm not a baseball fan myself, but I do hate the Yankees. I really have no reason to, other than the fact that they win way too much, lol. I would definitely root for the banker over a Yankees fan! I actually don't mind the banker. It's hilarious how they try to say he's the evil one on every episode, but most of the time, I agree with what he has to say, especially if the contestant is annoying. And unfortunately, they have had way too many of those types on the show. As far as I'm concerned, I have no ill feelings towards the banker, but hey, that could change if I were to ever get on the show

I'm not a major baseball fan. I do admit I really only watch the playoffs and basically some of the Sox vs. Yankees regular season games.
So I'm not alone in considering rooting against the Yankees' fan. *eg*
Oh I do admit, I have rooted for the Banker in the past. The really annoying contestants can grate on me to the point where I don't care about them. And for a stretch there, there were a bunch of annoying ones in a row. For example, that chickie that liked to smack Howie's butt - I SO wanted her to lose.
And if the contestants push their luck way too far, then it's like, 'You know, you deserve to lose at this point. The odds aren't in your favor, you greedy idiot.'
I suppose anyway, I must not completely hate the Banker given the blog I have. *g*

I agree about contestants being too greedy. In some instances, they deserve to win nothing. However, I can understand what they're thinking. Winning $1 million on the show will probably never happen, but just the thought of winning that much will drive many contestants to try to go all the way. They figure that they'll never be that close to $1 million again, so why not take the chance?
And yes, that woman who kept slapping Howie's butt..... she needs some serious help, lol. And to think, the woman is a nurse if I recall correctly. I remember thinking that if I was in the hospital and feeling awful, I wouldn't want that chick anywhere near me! Please get me someone normal! I forget how much she won, but I don't believe it was too much, and for that, I'm thankful ;D
I suppose that what all this means is that people will do anything to get on TV, and will do anything once they're on TV. And of course, it's these goofballs that end up doing the best, while the normal people don't tend to do very well at all. Perhaps it's true that nice guys finish last, at least when it comes to this show.

I suppose. But really, if the odds basically are saying 'your case likely holds less than $1,000,' take the deal. Just my thoughts. Actually, the butt slapper left with $170,000. Maybe you we thinking of the hyper NASCAR lover? She left with $500 and I kinda didn't mind that fact either. She was a loon too. It does seem some of the normal ones don't fare too well (like the guy who was still living at home and didn't think he was actually gonna be on the show). But I suppose you could say the same of the really quirky ones too.

Oh, I agree. If I were on the show, and the odds weren't in my favor, I would definitely take the deal. But of course you'll always have people who are gamblers, and good luck trying to talk them into taking the deal. And that sucks that the butt slapper left with that much, lol. I was thinking it was far less. Ah well, you're right, maybe I was thinking of the NASCAR twit. That did make me more than pleased to see her walk out with close to nothing ;D It all evens out in the end I think. You have normal people who don't fare well, and you'll also have weirdos who don't win a fortune. And in-between, you'll have both kinds that win quite a bit, so you could say that it's a nice mix

This is too true about gamblers. NASCAR twit. *eg* I liked when she got to to talk to the Banker. 'Well that wasn't very nice...' Yup. When it's a game of pure luck, that's how it has to work out.

And tonight begins another week of our favorite show. Will the top prize be given away tonight? More than likely no, lol. However, some guy tonight does get a very nice offer of $261,000, so I hope he's not too greedy, and accepts the deal. I have feeling he turns it down, though, hoping for more. We shall see....

Wow. That's pretty much all I can say. It always amazes me how quickly a contestant's game can turn. He turns down $261,000 which, you could argue, was a dumb move. He then proceeds to open up the highest amount remaining, $750,000. Now, on the one hand, you could call it being too greedy when you turn down that much money. However, on the other hand, what are the odds of you opening one of the two biggest amounts remaining on the board? It always seems to happen, instead of one of the lower amounts being chosen. If he had knocked out a low amount, the next offer probably would've been close to or over $400,000, and I'd be willing to bet you that he would've accepted the deal at that point.
Unfortunately, that's not what happened, and he ended up leaving with $92,000, a far cry from $261,000. It just goes to show that more often than not, you should take the deal when it's that high, because you're likely going to open up a huge case. And, as a result, you'll never see an offer that high again. It is so hard to walk out with a huge amount, because in order to do so, you have to be willing to turn down every offer, and that's not all. You also really have to hope that you leave two big amounts in, because if you only have one, then you have no safety net, and it's not worth the risk to go on.
Take tonight for example. Even if he had gone on all the way to have it down to $400,000 and $5, there's no way anyone in their right mind would turn down that final offer, because the difference between those two numbers is just insanely huge. The only reason that woman awhile back won $750,000 is because the last two amounts she left on the board were the million and $750,000. If she had knocked one of those out earlier, she would not have gone all the way, and she would've won far less.
So, it would seem that if you're the gambler type, that's fine, but don't expect to win a huge amount of money, because from what I've seen, many, many people have gone on when they should've taken the deal. Now, it's going to take a big time gambler for the million to ever have a chance to be given away, but I just don't think it's going to happen. You have to have incredible guts, turn down every single offer, and keep at least one other big amount on the board. And if that's not enough, Howie gives you the option of switching cases at the very end, and what a sick feeling it would be if you did switch, but you had the million all along. That woman they had win $750,000 will more than likely be the closest they'll ever come to giving away the million, and it all came down to her being extremely lucky in her case picking.

Honestly, I would've turned it down, too. I don't know if I would've selected the case the contestant did after that; but...you know. I thought the offer was a bit low, really. I thought it would've been a bit higher (low $100k range). On the other hand, some deal way too early (NY Jets fan, for example...she took a six-figure deal with a pretty decent board, only to learn she had the million in her case). Others get out when there's only one large amount left with no safety net, only to find said large amount in their case. Anyhoo, as another New Englander (bred but not born there, in my case), count me in on the "Do I root for the Yankees fan" train... and I'm not a huge baseball fan, either (although I'll watch some of the Red Sox games on TV).

That offer surprised me as well. I definitely agree that the offer should've been between $100,000 and $110,000. Too true. It's a shame, really, but it's all about how lucky you feel. If only you knew what was in your case, but then we wouldn't have this show now would we Well, I have to say, I actually don't mind the Yankees fan. I thought it was hilarious that he looked just liked Howie, and he even had the same outfit on ;D He was a normal contestant, which they seem to have few of on there. I'm hoping he wins big

When it gets to the 50/50 point (two huge amounts vs. two small amounts) I would take the deal. It's basically a coin flip for which type of amount you'll knock out.
Yeah, the Yankees' fan is an okay guy I think dressing like Howie was a bit strange though...
